  • My client a leading software house is now seeking a Technical Consultant.

    Responsibilities

    The Customer Service team is responsible for all clients who are live with the OMS system. Reporting to the Head of Customer Service, this role will specifically have responsibility for:

    Technical Services:

    Define standards for use of Oracle features and use best practices for developing a large system with focus on performance
    Participate in performance investigation internally and on site at customers
    Be responsible for installing and upgrading Oracle databases
    Develop scripts and other tools to enhance and automate procedures
    Participate in supporting our customers and colleagues by phone and by our internal supporting systems
    Other:

    Participate in pre-sales activities and workshops
    Although most projects are currently based in London, a flexibility to travel is required


    KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE:

    Essential:

    Experience within a similar role, working with large databases
    Extensive knowledge about relational databases, preferable Oracle and/or MS SQL Server
    Experience with tracing and performance tuning
    Experience operating HW and OS and know the important factors f having a well performing system
    Upper Second Class degree or better from a top tier university, preferably within Computer Science/Physics/Maths or Finance
    Experience in handling multiple tasks at the same time
    Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills
    Excellent problems solving skills and a solution focused attitude
    Methodical, hardworking and able to work well under pressure
    Enthusiastic, committed and result-orientated
    Business and customer orientated individual that focuses on value-adding activities
    Good sense of humor and like to work in an open and multi-cultural environment
