  • SQL Server Developer DBA with Data Warehousing (SSIS etc...) required for Financial Services / Banking company based in London with offices in the Home Counties The Database Administrator will be part of a team of DBA's and will be responsible for enterprise-wide administration of the Data Warehouse and Databases owned by the division in Berkshire. Responsibilities include database administration, data modelling (assistance) and ETL support.

    Skills:
    " SQL Server DBA (development DBA rather than Production)
    " Datawarehousing skills ETL, SSIS etc....
    " Scripting experience (SQL)
    " Development experience using T- SQL etc...
    " Database Performance Management.
    Role:
    " Assist in the migration and consolidation of the Old Warehouse into the New Warehouse
    " Assist in the provisioning of a Disaster Recovery Solution for the Data Warehouse
    " Detailed documentation needs to be generated with regards to all tasks and activities for the duration of the contract.
    Security
    " Design, maintain and document security framework for new and current systems
    " Create and remove logins, roles and users for users that require backend access. (with necessary paperwork)
    " Act on security violations
    " Audit Security on All servers on a regular basis.
    " Monitor domain services account, Proxy account, Local services account.

    Back/Restore
    " Develop and implement backup strategy.
    " Ensure recoverability of database
    " Script logins on a regular basis.
    " Understanding the implications if backups do not succeed.
    " Backup, copy and restore databases on the required frequencies and ensure correct logins (UAT and PROD)
    Replication
    " Setup replication environments as per user requirement
    " Modifying existing replication as tables are added/modified
    " Understanding how replication works and why replication was used within design. (Transactional, snapshot, merge replication)
    " Knowing how changes/deployments will affect replication and understanding why.
    " Monitoring replication and being able to determine latency and how if will affect business.
    " Awareness of other replication-like methods, e.g. log shipping, database clustering, database mirroring, database snapshots.
